From the time I laid eyes on Brenda, over a year ago, I wanted to taste every inch of her. The need ran so deep, I pushed her away. That’s my problem. I push everyone away; anyone who dares to get too close. The bonds of my past prevent me from moving forward, but my need for her compels me to break them. Now she’s in danger, and I’ll die before I let anything happen to her. It’s a race against time, between my past and saving her. Will time run out on both of us, or will we forever be bonded?
When I first met Magnum, I thought sex was all I wanted. Or at least that’s what I told myself. I haven’t allowed a man into my heart in over ten years, but one moment with him tore down walls that I meticulously built. I’m still forever bonded to a moment in time, ten years ago; a moment that threatens to come back on the ten-year anniversary of that fateful day. Magnum has sworn to protect me, but I’m not sure even he can save me from this nightmare. I’ve always been told that time breaks old bonds but will I be able to break my own and move forward into the unknown with Magnum? Or will our pasts break the bonds that hold us together?
Warning: mentions of child-abuse.
Let me begin by saying, OH. MY. GOSH. Autumn has done such a fantastic job with this story-line. It was an intense and wild ride as we are thrown into the lives of bad-guy Magnum, who works for Tony (who you will remember as the main character of Bedlam), and nurse Brenda. Both have haunted pasts that they are running from. Both need to confront their pain in this heart-wrenching novel.
Autumn Sand blew me away with this book. I could not put it down. Hell, I had difficulties putting it down, especially when I knew I had homework waiting for me. I had gotten so involved in the story that I honestly forgot what was going on around me. It’s been a while since I had a book like this, and it’s books like this that remind me how much I love reading.
Brenda’s past is more than I was expecting: she’s running from her ex, and boy does he seem crazy as hell. I hate him about as much as I hate Iggy. Damn Iggy. I’m still angry with him! Erm, back to Brenda. She falls into a slightly false sense of security, until an incident in her apartment sends her into a panic. Not to mention the roses. I would have had a fit of terror too if someone sent me dead flowers.
Magnum’s issues stem from childhood. His dad is a heck of a prick, and I don’t blame Magnum for hating his father, or as Magnum calls him ‘the sperm donor.’ Magnum seems tough on the outside with his hulking build covered in tattoos and piercings, but his mind is haunted with traumatizing memories.
I like the way Autumn weaves her books together. I haven’t read Mayhem yet, but Brenda and Magnum actually meet around then (I think). She takes minor characters from her other books in the Twisted Hearts series and breathes further life into them. The characters we may have been intrigued by before get their own book, and we’re thrown into their world.
Gotta admit, when I first saw Magnum mentioned in Bedlam, I was kind of iffy about him. I wasn’t sure if he would be someone I would like. But I felt for him and Brenda throughout Bonded. I wanted them to find happiness, or at least peace. Everyone deserves that.
I was given a copy of this stunning book in exchange for an honest review. The fact that I was given a copy is not a sway in my writing this review.
About the Author
Autumn Sands was born and raised in New York City. Considering herself a true New Yorker in every way from the restaurants that she eats to the shoe fetish she has. Oh yes at one time Autumn has had a shoe collection of 300 and has the credit card statements to prove it. Other than shoe shopping she has various interests such as reading, writing, and traveling. Autumn has worked in the fashion industry for most of her adult life before pursuing writing. She is reluctant to call herself an author but considers herself a person who writes words that people just so happen to like to read. As you can tell Autumn has a sarcastic sense of humor and loves to make her friends laugh in all occasions. She enjoys a good glass of wine but her go to drink of choice is a Jack Daniels and coke with a twist of lime. None of those froufrou girlie drinks for her.
